After studying Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge she spent time in a number of research laboratories, including the Sanger Institute, department of Pathology (University of Cambridge), and the Babraham Institute. She moved to the Department of Oncology (University of Cambridge) in 2010, where she established a laboratory and led its expansion as a central plasma processing facility for breast and ovarian cancer biomarker studies and clinical trials.

With 10 years of expertise in translational research at both the ‘bench and the bedside’ and significant experience in the field of genomic medicine, Heather joined the Department of Clinical Neurosciences in 2019, and is responsible for overseeing the group’s clinical research, from grants, finance, and HR, to the ethical and R&D set up of new research projects.
